MRI Campaign: Imaging Really Matters
The MRI Campaign includes a new, state of the art 1.5 Tesla MRI, installation in a modular unit added on to the hospital and training for radiologists and technologists.
Last year, with your incredible support, we successfully completed a fundraising campaign of $3,000,000 to fund the purchase and installation of URVH’s first permanent MRI. The project has three components:
1. the MRI magnet (cost $1.4 million)
2. the modular accommodation (cost $1.6 million )
3. project related site costs including attaching the modular unit into the existing infrastructure systems (water, HVAC, electricity, etc) (cost $1.5 million).
The additional $1.5 million will be paid by Horizon Health Network (HHN) through the Department of Health budget, which was approved within the Capital Project Plan for the 2024-2025 budget year (April 2024- March 2025).
We are excited to announce that the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the MRI magnet was issued during January 2024 and generated responses from many vendors. The RFP for the MRI magnet closed on March 8th, 2024, and was subsequently scored by a committee. Based on the original proposals, two vendors were selected for further evaluation, after which a final selection will be made. This process is expected to be completed by June 2024.
This magnet vendor selection will create a second procurement process for the MRI modular unit. Specifically, an RFP will be posted to the New Brunswick Opportunities Network https://nbon-rpanb.gnb.ca/ with local contractors having an opportunity to bid on this project.
Concurrently, an architect for the project has been selected and will complete a site visit this month to explore siting location of modular unit and confirmation of spaces / available services. A site drawing will be prepared to include with the Modular Unit RFP.
Our Board of Directors remain very enthusiastic about this project and the tremendous impact it will make to patient care in the Upper River Valley area!
We want to assure you, our valued donor, that your contributions are sincerely appreciated and continue to provide key enhancements to patient care in your community. We admire and acknowledge your generosity and commitment to elevating healthcare in the Upper River Valley Area. With your incredible gifts, we remain committed to keep you up to date on MRI and other developments.
